The Motability Scheme is a fantastic establishment that helps so many people gain independence through mobility.
Not only does the Scheme offer a comprehensive automotive package, but it can all be covered by allowances you’re already receiving.
At the heart of it all, the Motability Scheme allows you to lease a car - driven by you or a named driver - with all the costs covered by an eligible Motability allowance.
Each lease lasts three years, and enables you to replace your car each time with a new vehicle once the three years are up.
Meanwhile, there is a 60,000-mile limit during the lease - each additional mile is charged at a pre-determined rate (typically about 5p per mile).
The Motability Scheme offers an unbeatable package that gives you the following:
Once you know you’re eligible for a Motability car, you can start looking for cars available on the Scheme.
All of our franchised dealerships here at Stoneacre offer cars on the Motability Scheme, and each location has at least one Motability Specialist that you can speak to, as well as order your car through.
Your Motability Specialist is there to answer all your questions, as well as ensure that your order is exactly how you need it to be, especially where adaptations are concerned.
Once you’re happy with your order, the Motability Specialist will submit your application and complete the order on your behalf. They will then keep you updated on every aspect until you take delivery.
This will depend mostly on which model you have chosen for your car.
Just like ordering a new car through conventional means, a car order through Motability might take between three-six months if the vehicle is yet to go into production.
However, with new car production being in a much better place these days, there is always the chance that your car of choice is already in group stock.
For any cars that require an assortment of adaptations, these may require extra time before being delivered to the dealership.
Payment is taken every four weeks, and comes directly out of your benefits.
These payments cover the car and all of the benefits, including insurance, breakdown and servicing.
On ocassion, the car can cost less than your allowance and, in such circumstances, you can claim back whatever is left over.
There will be some cars - typically those which are more expensive - which require an Advance Payment to be made up front. This payment covers the difference between your allowance and the total cost of the lease.
