Range, battery & charging
BYD is in the fortunate position to be able to manufacture its own batteries, allowing them to develop one of the most innovative EV platforms on the market.
Its ‘blade’ battery results in BYD’s cars benefitting from added space and less weight, meaning cars such as the new Sealion 7 can have more practicality in the cabin.
As an entry-level battery, the 82.5kWh unit is available with the RWD Comfort trim for a range of up to 300 miles, while the AWD Design trim can get up to 283 miles on a full charge - plumping for the AWD Excellence trim sees the bigger 91.3kWh battery give up to 312 miles of range.
The smaller of the two batteries can charge at up to 150kW, while the larger can reach 230kW. Both, however, can get a 10-80% boost via a rapid charger in no more than 30 minutes.

One of the most satisfying aspects to the new BYD Sealion 7 (aside from its practicality) is its pace on the road.
Even the entry-level, rear-wheel drive Comfort trim has 301bhp on tap - meanwhile, the all-wheel drive Sealion 7 Design and Excellence trims offer a whopping 530bhp for a 4.0sec sprint to 62mph.

Those at the wheel, for example, can make use of BYD’s advanced head-up display which offers important information directly onto the windscreen so you can keep your eyes on the road.
