The Kia Niro EV Performance
When buying electric vehicles, you generally decide on the battery capacity, level of performance, and two or four-wheel drive. However, all new Kia Niro EV models have a 201bhp electric motor driving the front wheels, which is powered by a 64.8kWh (usable capacity) battery.
The long-range battery pack and 150kW electric motor are standard on the new Niro EV. Kia claims a range of about 285 miles on a single charge. Performance is still good; the motor produces just over 200bhp, and it accelerates from 0-62 mph in 7.8secs and the battery can be recharged quickly and easily.
The Kia Niro EV can be charged from 10% to 80% in as little as 45 mins by using the extensive rapid charger network around the UK.
The navigation-based conditioning preheats the battery when a charge station is selected as a destination and is Kia's greatest innovation for the new Niro EV. This technology will enable the Niro to achieve quicker charging times and optimise battery performance because cold temperatures are the enemy of battery efficiency. So, it's very clever indeed.
