New Mazda MX-5 Safety and Technology
Mazda firmly believes that dynamic sports car handling should not come at the cost of safety, which is why the new Mazda MX-5 is equipped with the latest i-Activsense features.
Firstly, the car is equipped with three-point ELR seat belts. There is an audible warning if the passenger or driver does not clip-in. Meanwhile, there are four protective airbags for the driver and front passenger in the side and front space of the cabin.
The Mazda MX-5 coupe has dynamic stability and traction control; this helps maintain control of the vehicle during sudden, evasive manoeuvring. It works in conjunction with Mazda's own anti-lock brake system and electronic brakeforce distribution feature, which can help to stop the car from skidding or shifting far off course.
Technology has also advanced further with seamless connectivity offered by its seven-inch interactive touchscreen. Along with a SatNav, DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity, it also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, enabling you to use a variety of apps on the move.
New Mazda MX-5 Performance and Efficiency
The new Mazda MX-5 engine comes with all-new Skyactiv technology, which ensures that it can deliver great performance while meeting strict standards. There is no compromise on performance as its advanced car components make for a powerful and fun drive.
With a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, the all-new Mazda MX-5 model comes with a choice of two efficient engines. The 1.5-litre petrol engine has a top speed of 127mph and can reach 0-62 in just 8.0secs.
However, the 2.0-litre engine has a maximum speed of 136mph and can reach 0-62 in 6.0secs. Following its 2014 facelift the 2.0-litre now includes a new Asymmetric Limited Slip Differential for better handling.
The new Mazda MX-5 has a start/stop button, with i-Stop technology, which helps to save money on the fuel by shutting off the engine when idle.
There is also the addition of i-ELOOP technology that regenerates wasted energy, usually lost in deceleration, and reuses it as part of the car’s powered electricity, improving the overall fuel economy of the car.
