Lower Running Costs
The Nissan hybrid system is a fuel-efficient way of driving. As it uses the regenerated electric in the battery this means less fuel consumption compared to an internal combustion engine. As a result you have lower petrol expenses and maintenance costs since the engine will experience less wear and tear.
Extended Driving Range
Driving a Nissan hybrid car can give you around 40–50 miles of electric range. This range can be extended slightly with Nissan's innovative e-Pedal technology. Using the one pedal to accelerate, decelerate and brake makes for a smoother, simpler drive. The energy regenerated from braking is then fed back to the battery.
Reduced Emissions
Nissan hybrid models produce fewer greenhouse gases and other pollutants by using more electric power instead of fuel. With less re-fuelling, your journeys help the environment and quality of air. If you're not yet ready for an electric car, then hybrid models are an excellent choice if you’re looking for greener driving.
Nissan hybrid models include the Juke, Qashqai and X-Trail. Nissan's mild hybrid technology offers a more affordable and effective way to drive without you having to alter your driving style.
The wheels are powered by a petrol or diesel engine and receive additional support from a lithium-ion battery. Nissan hybrids are able to recharge their batteries while you drive thanks to an ingenious regenerative technology that uses kinetic energy that is absorbed as the vehicle slows down and moves forward.
When you engage the accelerator at a speed of less than 11 mph, the mild hybrid Nissan stop-start technology increases fuel efficiency therefore reducing operational costs and exhaust emissions.
Nissan mild hybrid models are an excellent way to get started with hybrid driving as they are more efficient and ideal for short trips.
Nissan full hybrid vehicles provide a combination of an engine and an electric motor without the need to plug in. The Nissan Juke Hybrid model is a typical example of this however, the Qashqai and X-Trail both use Nissan's unique innovative e-Power system which works slightly differently.
The Nissan e-Power electrified vehicle technology ensures that you get great performance, delivering a seamless and efficient driving experience.
E-Power Nissan models include the Qashqai urban crossover and large five and seven seater X-Trail. They offer a higher fuel economy as well as a more responsive, quieter way of driving when compared to the mild hybrid models.
The Nissan e-Power hybrid still offers regenerative braking but operates quite differently from conventional hybrid systems. You can find out how the Nissan e-Power system works below.
So what is a Nissan e-Power System, and how does it work? Unique to Nissan, this self-charging hybrid technology works a little different from most to deliver a responsive and efficient driving experience.
The e-Power Nissan electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery and a petrol engine; the electric motor moves the wheels on its own.
It functions similarly to an electric vehicle, offering instant torque and being more energy-efficient and less expensive to operate than a conventional combustion engine without requiring to plug it in.
To keep the battery charged, e-Power also uses the friction caused by braking to regenerate to recharge the battery of your Nissan self-charging hybrid car.
Another of Nissan's innovative technologies is e-Pedal which has gone on to revolutionise and simplify driving.
Using Just one pedal, you can accelerate and decelerate to change the vehicle's speed and press the e-Pedal right down to stop. This means there is no separate brake pedal as such.
In addition to enhancing the regenerative braking, the Nissan e-Pedal lessens driver strain when driving in cities.
You can find the Nissan e-Pedal button in the centre console, behind the electric parking brake button.
Once you get used to it, the e-Pedal is easy to use and can be beneficial on winding roads as well as when traffic is at a stand still.
