Where it all started...
Stoneacre Motor Group is a long-established franchised car dealership, operating across the north of England, as well as parts of the Midlands, Cambridgeshire and North Wales.
The story started in late 1994, when a used car dealership in Scunthorpe that had fallen on hard times was acquired by Richard Teatum, our CEO.
The name of that dealership? Stoneacre.
Today, Stoneacre Motor Group is a sprawling network of car dealerships representing a huge selection of the world’s top car, van and bike brands.
What customers can expect…
Through a vast dealer network and strong manufacturer partnerships, Stoneacre can offer a comprehensive car-buying experience - as well as the security a franchised dealership brings.
Elsewhere, Stoneacre’s manufacturer relationships also bear fruit, with each dealership offering a fully-fledged car service centre.
As a result, Stoneacre can give customers the full journey of buying a car, and then continue to look after them through manufacturer servicing and other Aftersales requirements.
Meanwhile, at Stoneacre’s Head Office in Thorne, Doncaster, several internal teams bring customers additional support in areas such as Car Finance and Part Exchange.
Stoneacre's Growth as a Company
The Stoneacre network has grown steadily over nearly 30 years, with the company gradually expanding into new areas.
A core element of this expansion has been due to strategic acquisitions over the years, with several such investments central to the growth of Stoneacre.
One such moment in Stoneacre’s history was the 2015 acquisition of Autoworld in Chesterfield. With a total of 13 sites - including a dedicated van centre and two motorbike dealers - the addition of the Autoworld sites cemented Stoneacre’s name into the Chesterfield community.
Following other dealerships being added to the Stoneacre network, Hodgson Motor Group, based in the North East, was acquired in mid-2020, which importantly added Toyota to our list of represented manufacturers.

Stoneacre Academy
The Stoneacre Academy intends to provide aspiring members of the Automotive Industry with ‘Learning that inspires, and empowers CAREERS FOR LIFE’.
A unique outfit for a car dealer, the Stoneacre Academy is an Ofsted-regulated school, earning the grade of ‘Outstanding’ for its maiden inspection.
So far, 100s of apprentices have been enrolled by the Stoneacre Academy in a variety of roles across the Stoneacre network.
Not only that, 96% of apprentices now have full-time roles with the company, with some of those moving into senior positions over time.
Aston Martin Newcastle
A strong sign of Stoneacre’s willingness to expand its portfolio of brands, we opened a custom-built showroom in 2015 to house its Aston Martin franchise.
Based in Newcastle’s Silverlink Retail & Business Park, Stoneacre's Aston Martin showroom is a shining example of creating a truly spectacular customer experience.
The dealership’s official opening night was a glamorous affair, with the event used as the first public outing for the DB11 grand tourer, which kick-started Aston Martin’s ‘Second Century Plan'.
Not only that, but then Aston Martin CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer, was in attendance to share his excitement with both staff and future customers.
